This is Keeley & Matt! Keeley found me on A Practical Wedding — one of my favorite wedding blogs — and told me all about her and Matt, and the day they had planned. They both live in North Carolina, but Matt is from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and has lots of family and friends in the area. Matt owns a vintage clothing shop in North Carolina which is how they met — Keeley’s friend took her shopping there. 🙂 She also mentioned the wedding having a safari theme — I was SO DOWN. They celebrated at Smith’s Castle in Wickford, which is a pretty awesome location — quiet, right on the water, and surrounded by nature. It was built in 1678 and is one of the oldest houses in Rhode Island. The land on which the house was built was known as Cocumscussoc and was the original site of Roger Williams’ trading post. Approximately 40 soldiers were buried on the property during King Phillip’s War, and the only incident of an individual being hanged, drawn and quartered for treason on American soil took place at Smith’s Castle in 1676. Cool, huh? Anyway — they didn’t go TOO crazy with the safari theme, but almost all of their guests got into the spirit! It was a HOT day — like, mid-90’s all day, covered in dripping sweat, couldn’t keep my suntan lotion on, hot — but everyone powered through (and amazingly enough danced like crazy!).
