This is Justine & Scott! Yes, we’re name twins, and she’s one of the ONLY other Justines I’ve EVER met. Fate! They found me on Offbeat Bride and I couldn’t have been more excited about the idea of heading to NYC (my first time ever!), especially after reading about the Onderdonk House. It’s located in Ridgewood, right on the border of Queens and Brooklyn, and it’s the oldest Dutch Colonial stone house in New York City. It’s literally this awesome house surrounded by an acre of land right in the middle of industrial Queens/Brooklyn. It’s delightfully out of place. The current house that stands there was constructed in 1709. It now serves as a museum for permanent exhibit on the archaeology of the Onderdonk site, as well as various changing exhibits related to history, culture, and the arts. They also occasionally host events there, such as weddings, and Justine & Scott snagged it for theirs! They had so many cool things I was looking forward to — delicious food, human-sized flowers, origami cranes, a photo booth, and of course, their amazing venue — and they did NOT disappoint. I spent the whole weekend in NYC with my assistant, Kim, and my second shooter, Kate of Kate Crabtree Photography! We had an amazing time exploring and the wedding day was just the icing on the cake.
