These downtown Portland, Maine headshots are so awesome to me because THIS GROUP OF WOMEN is so awesome! These are some of the board members from The Junior League of Portland, Maine, a group originally founded in 1922 that is comprised of hundreds of women who have felt empowered and inspired to become leaders in their community. From the website, they “are unified by their commitment to the mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers” and, well, it doesn’t get much better than that. I’ve been photographing this bunch — which has evolved a bit over time  — for several years now and they are such a warm, engaging, intelligent group of human beings. Such an honor!
