Winthrop, Maine YMCA Camp Wedding

This Winthrop, Maine YMCA Camp wedding was so up my alley… a beautiful summer camp on a lake with good food and great people! I photographed Rose & Dan’s East End engagement session and they were just as chill and relaxed on their wedding day. These two met in Maryland (where Dan grew up) while they were both in grad school. When they got in touch with me, they were living in Utah, both studying water quality for different agencies (they’re geoscientists!). They have a connection to Maine since Rose grew up in central Maine and her parents live near the YMCA Camp, so it just felt right to celebrate here! Their goal for the day was, as Rose put it: “rustic, beautiful but laid-back, managed chaos, and maybe even a little bit sexy?” and I loved it — such an honest and succinct combination! The YMCA Camp felt like a perfect venue for them. The vibe was relaxed and easygoing, they were able to do their First Look hidden away in the woods, a lovely outdoor ceremony, and then a reception in the big mess hall — all exposed wood and animal heads mounted on plaques. Very Maine!
